In 1987 my brother and I happened to be having a
beer at Phineas T. Barnicles. Why the two of us were there I still
can't
recall because we didn't roll together very often. Well, one beer
turned
into two when inspiration struck. I looked at my brother Frank and
said "
Frank, how many drinking establishments do you think there are
between
here
and Pat O'Sheas ? he said " I don't know" to which I replied "let's
find
out !" there were 18 and thus the Geary Street shuffle was
established.
In
1989 the shuffle was organized and 35 stout hearted men made the
run. Quite
a number of stories came out of that day....on Feb 26th, 2005 the
17th
annual Geary Street shuffle takes on one more memorable day.
